Video Recap Of Tortuga Music Festival

As promised, the video recap of the Tortuga Music Festival as seen through the eyes of your favorite rum soaked Caribbean blogger. I was only there for one of the two day event but that was enough, what these eye and ears experience was enough to last all summer long.

The festival was put on by Rock The Ocean to raise funds and awareness for ocean conservation. To learn more about Rock The Ocean click here.

The day started off with rain for Mac McAnally, then the sun tore through the clouds for Michael Franti, and finally the day dissolved into night during Kenny Chesney. All of this happened on the sand of Ft. Lauderdale beach. Bikini clad ladies, laid back guys, Landshark beer flowing freely, live music on the beach…does it get much better?

If you were there I’d love to hear about your experience. What performer did you like best? Did you talk with Guy Harvey at the conservation tent? Did you see me fall over a lawn chair in the VIP lounge? Let us know what you thought!

Cheers Castaways!

I was there for both days and loved it. Kenny Chesney’s show was definitely the highlite for me. I was happy to see Mac McAnally joining him onstage for ‘Back Where I Come From’ , but wish Grace Potter had joined him for ‘You and Tequila’. Michael Franti and Spearhead also was a real good time. I knew from last year’s Sunfest that they do a great job of getting the audience involved. I wasn’t crazy about the message Eric Church was putting out there. Seems like he’s trying to imitate Hank Williams Jr.. Disappointed that Gary Clark Jr. didn’t make it. An announcement informing the crowd about that would have been appreciated. Happy to hear Lynyrd Skynrd still sounding as good as I remember them sounding years ago. I was standing next to someone in the crowd who appeared to be Keith Richards, who was posing for pictures and signing autographs. A Tortuga staff person told me they expect to be back here next year with hopefully lower ticket prices. If so, I hope they also provide a much better beer selection too. Kudos to Guy Harvey for his efforts in getting his enviromental message across to all.

Uh…how come YOU were in the VIP lounge?

Just kidding! You’re definitely a celebrity in my book.
    Kind of.
    Sort of.
    Maybe a little.

Thanks for sharing the video. That was fun!

Thanks for your recap Scott! I found out that if you downloaded their free Tortuga Music Festival app they were able to update people about Gary Clark Jr. and other announcements that way. Though I didn’t know about the app until the media meeting. Not sure if it was on their site or not. Looking forward to next year already! Cheers!

IslandNana, I’m definitely not a celebrity, just a humble beach blogger that has an amazing group of readers. Because of that I guess you could call me media, which got me access to the VIP area, free drinks and an amazing place to watch Kenny! Cheers!
