Mishka Releases “Ocean Is My Potion” EP Album

Last week, smooth singing reggae star Mishka released his new EP album called “Ocean Is My Potion.” The album is said to be a back to the basics album for Mishka. He funded the album with the help of fans on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter. Those fans have been eagerly awaiting the release and now we all get to celebrate.

The album also features long time friend Jimmy Buffett. The two sing together on the title track, “Ocean Is My Potion.” Not only that but the album was recorded at Buffett’s Shrimpboat Sound studio in Key West and Mishka does a cover of Buffett’s “Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season.” The track features both famed musician Mac McAnally and Buffett himself.

Mishka’s island beats and mellow sound is a perfect fit for Mailboat Records. The story of how Jimmy and Mishka met is a good one. Born in Bermuda and traveling the Caribbean with his family, at five years old young Mishka would earn money by delivering products to boats anchored in harbors. The two became friends when Mishka would deliever fresh croissants to Buffett’s sailboat in the French West Indies. The two became friends, connected by music and the Caribbean.

There’s nothing better to kick back with rum or a Kalik and melt into your chair with Mishka playing. I bought the album Friday and can’t turn it off. Very cool history with Jimmy Buffet too. I love the whole album but the title track and “Constant Revolution” are probably my favorites. I’m headed to Florida the end of this week to look at houses and can’t wait to stare at the palm trees with this playing!

Glad to hear you like the new music KeyLime Ryan. Good luck on the move! I’ve lived in a palm tree paradise now for 12 years and driving down the streets still put a smile on my face. Cheers!

I agree. This is exactly what I had hoped it would be! And you can’t go wrong with adding Jimmy to a couple of your songs! FWIW, I knocked on the door the last time we walked by Shrimpboat Sound studio… it was locked and nobody answered. I guess they didn’t know I was with RumShopRyan!

This is one of my favorite Mishka albums. Rebel Soul (track 3) is amazing!

I only recently discovered Mishka, but have been a lifelong fan of Jimmy Buffett. I love the sound of “Ocean is my Potion.” It was been on constant rewind. Looking forward to checking out the rest of the songs.
