Our first two nights were spent relaxing at Alexandra Resort which sits on the world famous Grace Bay. When we arrived the friendly front desk person gave us tokens for a free drink at the beach bar. Always a nice touch! This was our first time to take a breath and relax after traveling all day. We sipped our rum punches and gazed at the beauty of Grace Bay.
Once in our room we were astounded by the size of it. Our jaws dropped as we walked into our spacious one bed, one and a half bath suite. Our favorite thing about our room was the expansive balcony that overlooked Grace Bay. Keeping the slider open to hear the waves at night is a must!
Alexandra has a tropical and family friendly vibe — with lush landscaping and activities for all ages. Due to the unusual windy weather we could not enjoy all the complimentary amenities such as the kayaks, paddle boards and Hobie cats. Just a reason to go back right?!
We did however enjoy their beach bar, pizza bar and dinner at the property’s restaurant, Asu. Try the Seafood Risotto, It’s AMAZING! Asu means “sunset” in Taino and you can see some of the best sunsets at Alexandra Resort.
The Beach House Resort
We did not stay at the Beach House Resort but we were given a tour of the property. We also enjoyed a beverage at the beach deck bar with the sweetest bartender, Wendy. Wendy was gracious enough to participate in a spontaneous drink video that will be posted later. She was highly nervous but she did a fabulous job!
Beach House is also located on Grace Bay but further away from other resorts. As a unique touch, the rooms are named not numbered. Instead of looking for room 115 or 315, picture yourself staying in a room called “Calm” or “Deserved”. If you’re looking for tranquility and some seclusion, This 21-suite boutique style resort is the place for you.
A few nights after our first visit to Beach House, Ryan and I dined at the resort’s restaurant, Kitchen 218. As you know, Ryan and I are the laid back, hole-in-the-wall beach bar types. The chic atmosphere and exquisite food presentation was out of the norm for us but there were definitely no complaints.
It was fun pretending to live the high life for an evening. The service was attentive and the food was superb. The Chef even came out to greet us and explained how our dishes were prepared. We indulged ourselves a little when it came to the appetizers. We couldn’t decide on the Crab Cake, Lionfish Ceviche or the Lobster Bisque so we ordered all three. We are what you call problem solvers. Even though we are the low-key type, I certainly wouldn’t mind another elegant evening at Kitchen 218.
Blue Haven Resort
Our last three nights were spent being pampered on a private beach at Blue Haven Resort. As we checked in we were greeted with rum punches. It was as if they already knew us!
Our room at Blue Haven was a touch smaller than the one at Alexandra but for us it was cozier and reminded us of home. Our balcony overlooked the brilliant blue waters of Caicos Sound, a preserve island and the resort luxury yacht marina. Toss in a few dozen palm trees and a beautiful pool deck and that was our breathtaking view.
The pool and beach area are next to each other on the property. Whether you’re lounging in a hammock at the beach or relaxing by the infinity pool, you can still watch the boats go by. We loved it!
Another thing we loved about Blue Haven was their market on property. If you never wanted to leave the premises you really do not have to. The market was a life-saver for Ryan since I can get a bit hangry (that’s hungry and angry) in the mornings if I don’t have anything to eat.
Blue Haven’s restaurant Fire and Ice serves breakfast but we are always eager to explore in the mornings so we bought a few granola bars and hit the road. Upon our return we had another elegant evening dining at Fire and Ice with service that went above and beyond. It’s an open-air restaurant and I was freezing that night. Without a second thought the servers picked up our table and placed it inside where the wind could not hit us. How’s that for service!? Their bartender Eddie was a good sport working with us on a drink video and he gave us insightful information about the Turks and Caicos islands.
On our last day we lounged by the pool and chatted with other guests by the pool bar. We had a great lunch at Salt Bar and Grill which is the casual marina restaurant on property. If you’d like to rub elbows with some yachties it can be a lot of fun. With Blue Haven’s beachy vibe and class it is surely a place we would love to return to.
To be honest, we loved all the resorts we visited. It’s impossible to pick a favorite out of the three because all were amazing and unique in their own special way. The only thing that stayed the same was the exceptional service which showcased the high-brand standard of the Turks and Caicos Collection. RumShopRyan and I have never been so spoiled and we are thankful for the wonderful hospitality. Our first trip to the TCI was outstanding and we cannot wait to visit again!
