A Look at Saba, The Unspoiled Caribbean Queen

Saba. I had known about her for years, but as I sat on the balcony of my St. Maarten hotel room, I could see the dark outline of the island sitting in the distance. It called to me then, it calls to me know. It’s about time to answer that call.

Sharing this passion for the Caribbean is what I love to do. But sometimes I hesitate to write about a particular place. That hesitation is born out of a selfish desire to keep it a secret, but I know as a blogger/writer it is my duty to tell you about the special places and people that deserve to have a little light shed in their direction. Saba is one of those places I hesitate sharing. She is somewhat of a secret Caribbean island. Some secrets are hard to keep.

It’s an unspoiled paradise that many Caribbean travelers haven’t yet been to and maybe have never even heard of. The island is part of the Netherlands Antilles and is nicknamed the Unspoiled Queen. After watching the video below by John Coffey of Ocean Adventure Video and you’ll understand how this beautiful Caribbean gem got that name.

Saba, The Unspoiled Queen

There’s diving, hiking, charming streets, and they even make their own rum. Saba doesn’t have any real beaches, except for one that comes and goes with the tide, but the warm people and lush mountain vistas more than make up for it.

For more information about Saba please take a look at their tourism page.

If you’ve been to Saba I’d love to hear about your experience.

Cheers!
