After one sip, you’ll be fishing the stream.
Margaritas have a special place in my my heart. They taste fantastic and it’s impossible to have a bad time when there’s one sitting in front of you. But as you know, rum translates to island time in a glass, so more often than not a refreshing rum punch will find its way to my lips.
In saying that, margaritas have been on my mind more and more lately. Castaway Crystal and I have been venturing up to Captiva Island to a charming little hole-in-the wall place called Cantina Captiva that just happens to serve a mean margarita. Both of us are hooked.
Only if there was a way to combine both rum and the great taste of margaritas.
Hmmmmm. Oh but there is!
Just so happens our good friends at Papa’s Pilar Rum have come up with a truly great margarita recipe that uses its smooth blonde rum. One taste of this superior cocktail and you might just forget about tequila all together.
The Pilar Rum-Rita Recipe
- 2oz. Papa’s Pilar Blonde Rum
- .5oz. Rhum Clément, Première Canne
- 2oz. Fresh Lime Juice
- .5oz Cointreau
- .5oz Grand Marnier
- 1oz. Champagne
- Lime Wedge Garnish
Mixing Instructions: Combine first five ingredients in a shaker with ice. Pour into glass half rimmed with coarse salt. Top with Champagne and garnish with lime wedge. Raise glass and toast.
Thank you to my friend Carl Grooms of Papa’s Pilar Rum for creating this fantastic rum twist on the classic top-shelf margarita.
