The EXPAT Smash – Boat Drinks
After one sip, you’ll be looking for a new place to live.
Today’s stomach pleasing rum drink is called the Expat Smash. Castaway mixologist Jeremy created this boat drink as a variation off the popular Bahamian drink, the Goombay Smash
. Legend has it that the original Goombay Smash was concocted at the Blue Bee Bar
on Green Turtle Cay in the Abacos. I can honestly say that the Goombay Smash is one of my favorite boat drinks of all time. When you drink one state side you feel like you’re in the Bahamas, and when you drink one in the Bahamas
you feel like you’re in heaven.
The Expat Smash is a twist off the famous recipe. Jeremy has been on an Amaretto kick lately and I can’t blame him. It’s has a great flavor for mixing drinks. Here is the Expat Smash recipe for you to create your own island day dream.
The ExPat Smash Drink Recipe
- 1/2oz Gold Rum
- 1/2oz Light Rum
- 3/4oz Coconut Rum
- 1/4oz Amaretto
- 4oz Pineapple Juice
- Splash of Dark Rum (Floater)
Mixing Instructions: Shake all ingredients except dark rum in ice filled glass. Top with the dark rum floater. Raise glass and toast.
I haven’t drank the Expat Smash next to the Goombay Smash yet. It would be interesting to do a little taste testing research. Study the complexities of each flavor, each smell. Ha! I’m not going to study anything but the bottom of each glass!
